General principle
Grand Publishers operates as a selective hybrid publishing imprint. Our services involve professional editorial judgment, time-based work, and third-party production costs.
As a result, fees are non-refundable once work has commenced, except where required by applicable law. We believe in transparency and fairness and outline refund eligibility clearly below.
Before services commence
If you have agreed to proceed but no work has yet begun, you may request a refund. Requests must be made in writing, refunds at this stage are at our discretion, and any administrative or transaction fees may be deducted where permitted by law.
Once editorial review, project planning, or production preparation has started, services are considered commenced.
After services commence
Once any of the following have begun, refunds are generally not available:
- Editorial assessment or manuscript evaluation
- Developmental, copy, or proof editing
- Project management or production planning
- Design, formatting, or ISBN allocation
- Coordination with third-party vendors or platforms
This is because time and labour have been invested, costs may have been incurred, and work performed cannot be reversed or resold.
Partial refunds
In rare cases we may consider a partial refund where services were paid for but not yet delivered, work was materially delayed due to our error, or a mutually agreed scope was not fulfilled.
Any partial refund is assessed case by case, calculated on work completed, and issued at our discretion unless required by law.
Statutory consumer rights
Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights.
If you are a consumer based in the UK or EU, you may have the right to cancel certain services within a statutory cooling-off period before work begins, and to receive a refund if services are not provided with reasonable care and skill.
Where you have expressly requested services to begin immediately, you acknowledge that your right to cancel may be limited once work starts, as permitted under consumer law.
Non-refundable items
The following are non-refundable once incurred or delivered:
- Editorial reviews and assessments
- Consulting or strategy calls
- Editing services already performed
- Design or formatting work
- ISBNs, registrations, or third-party fees
- Published or distributed works
How to request a refund
Contact us in writing at info@grandpublishers.co.uk or michael@grandpublishers.co.uk, including your full name, the service purchased, the date of payment, and the reason for the request.
We aim to review refund requests within 7 business days.
Payment method and timing
Approved refunds will be issued using the original payment method where possible. Processing times may vary depending on your payment provider, and we are not responsible for delays caused by banks or payment processors.
Chargebacks and disputes
Please contact us directly before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute. Unauthorised chargebacks may be disputed with supporting documentation, including signed agreements, service records, and editorial correspondence.
Policy updates
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on our website.
Publishing is a collaborative, time-intensive process. This policy reflects the reality of professional editorial and publishing work, while remaining fair and compliant with consumer protection laws. If you have questions, we encourage you to ask before committing to any service.
