Apply to publish

Send it as
it is.

One chapter is enough to start. A person reads it, and we come back to you about what publishing it with Grand would look like.

Deep stacks of aged paper and folders, hundreds of sheets seen edge on.

What we
look at.

Four things, in this order. Not a scorecard, and not a form letter with your title pasted into it.

Readiness
Whether the manuscript is at a stage where editorial work will improve it, or whether it needs another draft first.
Structure
How the book is built: what it opens with, where it loses its grip, what is doing work and what is not.
Voice
Whether somebody is speaking on the page. This is the thing that cannot be added later.
Fit
Whether Grand is the right publisher for this particular book — which is not always yes.
Send the work

Your manuscript does not need to arrive as a pitch deck.

One representative chapter and a paragraph about what the book is trying to do. That is enough for a first read.

Privacy, and what you are not agreeing to

  • Sending a manuscript grants Grand no rights in it. You keep the copyright and everything else.
  • We use what you send only to read and respond to the work. We do not sell author data.
  • There is no obligation on either side, and no proposal arrives without a conversation first.
  • Ask us to delete your submission at any point and we will.

Send the work for a read

A paragraph is plenty. We are trying to understand the shape of the work, not test you.
PDF or Word, up to 8 MB. One representative chapter is enough.
By sending, you confirm this is your work and that Grand may read it to assess publishing fit.
